Russ and Elke's European Travel

It's not only what you see, it's how you see it

Russ and Elke's European Travel is a small company run by husband and wife team Russ and Elke Beck, a professional travel agent.

Over the years we have experienced some fantastic places, people, food and wine.  Out of our love for travel developed the idea to create very exclusive, intimate and interesting itineraries and let our clients experience, taste, smell, touch and hear what has given us so much joy in our travels.

Welcome to Russ and Elke Eat Italy

Wow!  What a week!  We launched our new website, opened our new Twitter account and signed up our first customers for the Bella Toscana Tour in May of 2013!

While it's been a busy week here at REEI, we still have a lot of work to do.  This is our first posting to our blog.  We hope this blog will become a big part of our site that will provide you with fun and interesting information, as well as hints and tips, about the excitement surrounding our upcoming tours.

At this time we are offering one tour, the Bella Toscana Tour.  This tour is set to depart on May 20th of 2013.  In this post, let's take a minute to tell you what your first day in Italy will be like.

After meeting you at the airport in Milan we'll load up your luggage (and you too!) and take a quick 1.5 hour drive down to Pisa where we can look at one of the worlds most famous architectural blunders.  We think it's kind of exciting to get off the plane and see something like the Leaning Tower of Pisa on the way to our private villa in Tuscany. And this won't be some little drive by like most tours. We want to make sure everyone has the chance to take a picture of themselves "holding up" the tower.  We all need that picture in our albums!  So we'll spend an hour or so on the ground and then pile back into the van for the remainder of the ride to the villa.

The private Tuscan villa we will be staying at is tucked high in the hills of the Chianti wine region just outside of Greve which is located in central Tuscany.  From this beautiful location we will be able to reach most of our destinations in Tuscany in about an hour.  While that may seem like a bit of a hike, remember, in Tuscany, getting there is half of the experience.  It is IMPOSSIBLE to take a bad picture and very hard to find a spot along the road that isn't breathtaking.  You will be glued to the windows the whole way and asking us to stop, over and over, to take amazing pictures of the absolutely breathtaking beauty of the Tuscan countryside.

Well, that's it, our first blog post!  Keep checking back for our next update.  In future posts we'll talk about the villa; it's history and amenities, and give you more details on the Bella Toscana Tour.  We'll also mix in some fun stories about our travel adventures and interesting things to learn about Italy and Europe.

     Until next time,

     Ciao!

     Russ and Elke
